Death of Hi Fi are Andy Hill and Dan Clear.
Anthropocene is a multi layered, eclectic mix of styles that the group have dubbed “Genre-Hop” – a cosmic soup of the bands influences;
Based around Hip Hop, the album also takes in everything from Electronica to Dub to Rock to Big Beat to Trance and so on and so on, they are all relative.
The album features collaborations with US artists Dizzy Dustin, Copywrite, Thee Tom Hardy and UK artists AJ Live, Asher Dust, Nzyme whilst also introducing many emerging artists and fresh talent.
Death of Hi Fi, a DJ/Producer duo, came up with the idea of asking the question of how it may sound if Aliens formed a musical interpretation of Earth made up from hearing snatches of transmissions from radio waves beamed into space. What developed was a collection of disparate styles melded into an album of short vignettes of life on Earth as viewed by the stellar observer; The Anthropocene.
The album has been described so far as:
“The best Hip Hop album to come out of Oxford ever” – Nightshift
“dark, dangerous and exhilarating” – Oxford Mail
D.O.H.F. will be following up the release of Anthropocene with a series of small tours around the UK through the rest of 2013, having evolved a highly visual show, and building on the growing fan base. A tour of Europe and the US is also planned for late 2013.
Anthropocene is available for download here: http://www.deathofhifi.co.uk <http://www.deathofhifi.co.uk/> and on iTunes.
